Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. This page explains our practices and how to exercise your rights.
We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
RailScanPro does not sell your personal information to third parties for monetary consideration.
We want to be clear: we do not, and will not, sell your personal data to data brokers, advertisers, or other third parties in exchange for money.
What "Sharing" Means Under CCPA
Under the CCPA, "sharing" includes disclosing personal information to third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted advertising). While we don't sell data, we may share certain information with service providers for legitimate business purposes.

- Azure OpenAI: AI-powered inventory analysis and cataloging
- Azure AI Vision: Photo analysis and product identification

- SendGrid: Transactional email delivery
- Microsoft Application Insights: Performance monitoring and error tracking
Important: These service providers are contractually obligated to use your information only to provide services to us and not for their own purposes.

Information We Do NOT Share for Sale or Advertising
We do NOT share the following for sale or cross-context advertising:
- Account credentials (email, password)
- Personal identification (name, address)
- Payment information (credit card details)
- Inventory data (your railroad collection)
- Photos uploaded to the service
- Private messages or support communications
How to Opt Out
You can opt out of data sharing for advertising purposes using any of these methods:
Option 1: Cookie Settings
- Click the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page
- Toggle off "Advertising Cookies"
- Click Save Preferences
Option 2: Browser Settings
Enable "Do Not Track" or similar privacy features in your browser:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Prevent cross-site tracking
- Edge: Settings → Privacy, search, and services → Tracking prevention

Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat it as a valid opt-out request for that browser.
To enable GPC:
- Brave: Settings → Shields → Global Privacy Control
- Firefox: Install GPC extension
- Chrome: Install GPC extension
What Happens After Opt-Out
After you opt out:
- Immediate Effect: We stop sharing your data for advertising purposes
- Service Continuity: All core features continue to work normally
- Analytics Only: We may still use analytics for service improvement
- Essential Sharing: Service providers still receive data needed to operate the platform
Important: Opting out does NOT:
- Delete your account or data
- Cancel your subscription
- Affect core service functionality
- Prevent us from sharing data for legal or security purposes
Authorized Agent Requests
California residents can designate an authorized agent to submit opt-out requests on their behalf. The agent must:
- Provide written authorization signed by you
- Verify their identity
- Verify your identity
- Submit proof of authorization

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

Shine the Light Law
California's "Shine the Light" law allows California residents to request information about personal information disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes.
Our Response: We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
How Often Can You Opt Out?
You can opt out or opt back in at any time. Your preferences will remain in effect until you change them.
- Opt-Out: Takes effect immediately
- Opt-In: If you previously opted out, you can opt back in anytime
