On June 2, 1900, Paris inaugurated its first Métro line between Porte de Vincennes and Porte Maillot just in time for the Exposition Universelle. Designed by Fulgence Bienvenüe, the underground electric railway featured innovative cut-and-cover construction and distinctive Art Nouveau entrances by Hector Guimard. It quickly transformed daily life for Parisians by providing fast, affordable transport across the city.
