Berlin S-Bahn Electrification Completed

Deutsche Reichsbahn finished electrifying the Ringbahn and several radial routes using 750 V DC third rail, replacing steam locomotives with new ET 165 multiple-unit trains. This modernization, overseen by engineer Walter Reuter, dramatically increased frequency and capacity for Berlin's growing population. It coincided with the city's rapid urbanization and set the technical standard for later German S-Bahn systems. The project also demonstrated efficient integration of suburban rail with the existing U-Bahn, influencing urban transit planning worldwide.
