Talgo train enters service in Spain

On July 25, 1952, the first Talgo trainset departed Madrid for Hendaye on the French border. Engineer Alejandro Goicoechea's design used lightweight articulated cars with a low center of gravity, allowing higher speeds on existing Iberian tracks without expensive rebuilding. The train quickly became a symbol of post-war Spanish modernization and influenced later high-speed rail concepts worldwide, including tilting technology still used today.
