Car Cards and Waybills
Car cards and waybills are the classic paper-based system for routing freight cars. RailCommand can generate them digitally, print them, and connect them to operating sessions.
Four-Cycle Waybill Flow
Each freight car cycles through four routing positions:
- Empty car to shipper.
- Loaded car to consignee.
- Empty car return.
- Staging or yard hold for the next session.
Setup Flow
- Define industries, staging, yards, car spots, and restrictions in the RailCommand layout tools.
- Review the RailCommand roster at
/app/railcommand/roster. - Open cargo, car cards, car tracking, car home, and staging yard pages for the selected layout.
- Print car cards or display them digitally.
- Start an operating session and issue switch lists to crews.
