Use this guide the first time you sign in. It is written for beta testers and new customers who want to touch the real product quickly without guessing which surface to open first.
1. Start at Home
Open Home at /app/home or /app/dashboard. This is your main signed-in launch point.
Use Home to confirm:
- You are in the expected organization.
- The sidebar is visible.
- You can reach Asset Management, RailCommand, Casey, Help, RSP-U Training, and Feedback.
If something looks wrong, report it from /app/feedback/report-bug before you spend time entering data.
2. Confirm Your Railroad
Open Settings at /app/settings, then use Railroad Profile at /app/settings/railroad.
Set the basics first:
- Railroad or layout name.
- Primary scale.
- Era or modeling focus if available.
- Any organization details your beta coordinator asked you to use.
This gives Casey, Asset Management, RailCommand, reports, and training better context.
3. Add One Real Item
Open Asset Management at /app/asset-management, then choose Add Item at /app/asset-management/add.
Pick the path that best matches the item in front of you:

Save one locomotive, car, structure, accessory, or other item. Do not worry about completing the whole collection yet; the first goal is to prove your account, railroad, and inventory flow work.
4. Label or Reopen the Item
After saving, open the item detail page from Asset Management.
Useful follow-up actions:
- Generate a QR code from
/app/asset-management/qror the item QR page. - Print labels from
/app/asset-management/print/labels. - Scan an existing QR from
/app/asset-management/scan. - Return to the list at
/app/asset-management/list.
For beta testing, note whether the item is easy to find again after you leave the add flow.
5. Ask Casey One Product Question
Open Casey at /app/ai/assistant.
Good first questions:
- "How do I add another item from a photo?"
- "Where do I report a beta issue?"
- "What should I test first in RailCommand?"
- "What is the RSP-BETA course bundle?"
Casey should give product guidance and point you to the right RailScanPro surfaces. If Casey gives stale directions, report the exact prompt and answer.
6. Open Help and RSP-U
Open in-app Help at /app/help when you want task support.
Open RSP-U Training at /app/training when you want structured learning, certifications, and beta onboarding. Beta testers should start with the RailScanPro Beta Starter Course Bundle (RSP-BETA), then move into role certifications such as RailCommand Desktop Operator when they need operator or game readiness.
